Website News

So after probably months of periodic work and experimentation our new website is finally online! We are moving off of WoWStead and here back home to stay! After countless issues with WoWStead including DAYS of downtime.  We've lost some functionality, but the stability and security of our current site is top notch. Not to mention I think it looks waaaaay nicer.

The site is by no means complete. Over the next coming months I hope to introduce a member screenshot gallery, raid history, event calendar, and a working application (right now we're using the forums for that). Anyway, the website is online. Let me know how you like it and if you experience any problems!

One of the biggest hurdles I was facing has been overcome! The big question I had was how we were going to continue to accept applications.  Well after HOURS of googling and looking through websites I found an awesome mod for phpbb.  Basically, it provides an application page and after the person fills it out it sends it to a hidden forum only the officers can see. So it will work almost exactly like our current wowstead setup but we'll have to reply to applications manually. We also won't have the nifty list of "accepted" or "denied" applications but I think I'll just create sub forums for them and I'll manually move them to declined or accepted.

So the website is coming along really nicely.  I have successfully fixed some of the issues with the CSS sheet and the ACP (Administrator Control Panel) in the phpbb3 (Forums). I've also uploaded almost all of the Avatars provided by the World of Warcraft fan kit. I also borrowed the Black Proto Drake from the Community MVPs for our officers.

If you want to try out the new avatars just register an account and follow these steps.

Well the website is slowly making progress.  I haven't really begun to mess with the application or the forums.  I have the forum bridged and the skin up, but still more work needs to be done.  I'm putting off making our new logo for when I feel like spending 3-6 hours on a small graphic.  Oy vey.

I'm pleased to see the Joomla forum mods are working.  Those are the ones on the front page that show how many users, top users, etc.  I hope to eventually download the WoW avatar pack so we have a whole bunch of WoW avatars...but right now I'm just working on getting this thing working.

I'd also like to get an event calendar working. I saw a raid scheduler calender, but I digress.  Its not that important.  We can just use the forum and post online. I have an idea...
