ChristianForce.NET Rules
Last Updated: September 27, 2006 - 8:58 PM EDT
By accepting the invitation to join Christian Expeditionary Force, by
remaining a member of the guild, and/or by utilizing Guild or Alliance
chat, or by utilizing the guild list or alliance chat as a method of
obtaining names to communicate with members who are within the guild or
alliance you are agreeing to the following rules, regulations, and
guidelines.
In as so long as you qualify for any of the conditions in the previous
paragraph you are agreeing to voluntarily submit and bind yourself to
the rules, regulations, and guidelines presented in this document. This
includes IN THE GUILD, IN THE ALLIANCE, and, IN GUILD WARS.
Upon leaving the Guild or Alliance it is implied and understood that
you are no longer binding yourself to these rules, regulations, and
guidelines.
FURTHERMORE, failure to submit to and obey these rules, regulations,
and guidelines is grounds for your permenant dismissal from this guild
and/or alliance. You are by no means privalaged or guaranteed warning
or notification for your dismissal.
- Profane, obscene, abusive, inappropriate, or otherwise offensive language is strictly prohibited.
Sometimes the offensiveness of a word or phrase is debatable. When not specifically spelled out by any official guild rules, and something you say DOES offend someone. The polite, respectful, and Christian course of action is to apologize for offending, explain you will try your best not to use the offending word/phrase when that person is online, and explain that from where you come from that word is not offensive.
Further clarification of this rule is provided in Officer Forum sticky "Prohibited Language" and may be provided to members upon request.
- Inappropriate gestures implied or direct are prohibited.
- Members of the Guild are to be polite and courteous to all players, in and out of the guild, in and out of the game.
- Good sportsmanship is to be displayed at all times.
Heckling of opposing teams is permitted in as so long it is clear to all parties that it is not meant to be offensive and does not contradict any other guild precepts.
- All user and character names are to be Family Friendly and appropriate for all ages. Guild Members who are in violation of this rule may remove the username/character without penalty depending on the severity of the violation. In extreme circumstances, for the benfit and integrity of the guild, members may be ejected immediately.
Keep in mind that our standards and ArenaNet's standards for acceptable names are often different. Just because ArenaNet permits you to use a certain character name it does not mean we will allow that same character name to appear in the guild roster.
- Scamming is strictly prohibited. Any member suspected of scamming will be investigated. Any member proven to have participated in a scam will be expelled from the guild and alliance permanently.
Please be aware of the definition of a scam. Over pricing an item is NOT by default a scam. For example, if I sell someone a vial of blue dye for 30k. There is no scam involved. However, if the person asks me how much the vial of blue dye is worth at the trader and I answer "40k". Then my deceit makes it a scam.
An item in a persons possession may be sold at ANY price they want to sell it. It is in their ownership and it is their item. They can choose what price they want to part with it. If someone wants to buy it at that price and does buy it at that price, the sellers is not guilty of scamming (although the buyer is guilty of not doing their homework).
It only becomes a scam when the seller knowfully and deliberatly deceives the buyer.
- Spamming (public and private) is prohibited.
Spamming is the repeated sending of duplicate or near duplicate messages consecutively. Repeatedly posting a trade in trade chat (or local chat in trade districts) is fine as long as it's not every line. Also informing the alliance you are creating a party for AB, farming, mission, etc. is okay as long it is not overwhelming and as long as it is tactful.
- Begging is prohibited period. Whether in the guild, in the alliance, or in local chat.
Begging is rude, impolite, and by no means necessary in a game. Ask politely and unobnoxiously. If no one is willing to assist you with your request, then this is where you need to either re-examine what you're asking or figure out a way to achieve what is needed on your own.
We agree that the guild and the alliance is here to help contribute players. However, it is not a free ticket and no one in the guild or alliance--member, officer, or leader--is required or bound to help you. We are all people and we all have the right to enjoy the game.
If someone does not want to do something for you, give you something, or help you with something then begging will only encourage them not to.
Most of us had to figure out the game by ourselves. It's part of the game. Earning gold, using henchmen and pick up groups through missions, and not being able to beat a mission withou 20 tries are ALL apart of the game and most of us experienced the same obstacles yourself.
We will aid people who are polite and courteous and who contribute to the guild, and by contribute I mean are nice and polite and help create a friendly atmosphere on guild and alliance chat (not necessarily items or assistance...we can not be bought or bribed).
We will not spend our time hand leading you through the game.
- Members who are more than three weeks inactive who have not announced their hiatus are subject to removal. Officers who are more than two weeks inactive without prior announcements will be demoted to member and will be given two more weeks before removal.
When you join the guild you agree to be at least somewhat actively participating. It is a fact that a large amount of inactive players is not favorable to see especially for new members.
Furthermore, if you are appointed to officer you are taking on a responsibility to help lead this guild. If you leave without telling anyone (other than an emergency or computer failure and unable to notify us) you will not be seen favorably by other fellow officers and the guild leader who were relying on you for help.
We understand some people do not play Guild Wars 40 hours a week. We understand some of you might play on the weekend or every other weekend. That's fine. We understand. But you also have to understand that 21 days is a long time to be away. And even longer if you are an officer with duties and responsibilities.
Please give us, at least, a rough estimate as to how long you will be gone. If it could be longer then please inform us. A simple "I'll be gone awhile." will not cut it. A forum post in head command is always a good place to post a vacation announcements.
If you do not wish to be polite and notify us that you will be gone then it is only fair that we remove you and make room for someone who will.
- Public discussion is to always be of the family friendly nature (that is acceptable to children 10 and up).
Not all "non family friendly" discussion is bad. There are many serious topics that are perfectly acceptable to discuss as Christians that aren't necessarily the best thing for kids to be apart of. We understand that. However, we have many younger players in this guild and we want to create an atmosphere where they feel safe and comfortable and even more importantly, their parents feel safe and comfortable allowing them to participate in our guild.
So please, keep sensistive and non family-friendly discussions to private discussion and please go out of your way to make sure everyone participating should really be participating in the discussion.
